About

Advmaker (adventurer + maker) is a one-man-shop based in Orem, Utah (USA).

Established in 2020 in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic as a weekend activity in the home garage, it was later moved to a warehouse. Joy likes several forms of adventure activities including motorcycle touring, hang gliding, and paragliding, hence the name.

Advmaker primarily produces custom sculptural steel monuments as of now. Current capabilities include design of bespoke artwork in 3D CAD to the specification of customer and then producing it with various methods including CNC plasma cutting, bending (magnetic or press brake), roll forming, punching, shearing, to name a few.

Joy is a software engineer by profession and has been making things as a hobby for over 2 decades. He ventured into metalworking rather accidentally in 2018 and has been addicted to making metal art ever since. He takes his inspiration from his days in Rabindranath Tagore's Santiniketan where he grew up. The environment of art, culture, and the exposure to various fields outside of formal textbook education in Patha Bhavana made him who he is today. His beloved wife Priti, a fellow ex-student of Santiniketan and an expert in paper origami is the constant source of support for Joy in all his creative endeavors.

He has in the past volunteered with a few projects at a small primary school and a few old homes in West Bengal, India. His current motivation is to use the profits towards the welfare of stray animals in the streets of Kolkata.
